Overview
Location: Remote, or St. Louis, MO.
The Technical Writer plays a key role on the Product team, responsible for creating a consistent company/product brand voice and valuable content for end users, clients and internal employees. Based on the product roadmap and releases, you will develop documentation for system functions, process flows, product features and APIs. You will be the product owner for our published Zendesk and Stoplight websites, as well the help content available within the Deck Commerce application suite.

Required Skills & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree
-
4-5 years of experience as a Technical Writer in a SaaS application with APIs

Excellent written and verbal skills, including expertise in grammar; clear, economical writing; and brand voice.

Experience with JIRA, Confluence, Zendesk and Stoplight.

Expert in management and communication tools including Office, PowerPoint, and Visio.

Highly organized and task driven while managing multiple streams in a fast-paced environment.

Superior relationship building and interpersonal skills.

Innate drive to succeed with a corresponding track record.
Primary Responsibilities

Works hand-in-hand with the Product Manager, stakeholders and subject matter experts to develop content related to upcoming release epics, stories, workflows and configurations.

Maintains a documentation backlog in Jira, connecting development team activity with the well-timed publication of articles, flow charts, diagrams, tables, sample JSONs and APIs.

Acts as a subject matter expert for Sales, Customer Success, Engineering and QA on functionality questions related to our products. If you don’t know the answer, you know where to find it and the last time it was updated.

Ensures that information sources are consistent (one topical source of truth), eliminates redundancy and controls document versioning.

Assists with evaluating, selecting, recommending and implementing appropriate software & system solutions (like Zendesk and Stoplight) that support and enable the delivery of product documentation.

Provides thought leadership for SAAS documentation and user guidance best practices.

Gains and commands expertise about ecommerce order management and Deck Commerce applications.

Maintains awareness of new technologies and the potential applications for clients.
