The Solutions Engineer is responsible for guiding clients from the beginning to the end of the technical design and implementation process. A Deck Commerce Solutions Engineer is a subject-matter expert in the Deck Commerce Core Order Management offerings and handles technical requests related to implementations, custom development, report development, and integrations with external systems. This includes gathering requirements, developing use cases, and proposing technical solutions for new and existing clients.
As a Solutions Engineer, you will engage in implementation consultancy via video calls and on-site client meetings. You will act as the primary technical representative for the Deck Commerce Customer Solutions department and work hand in hand with the Deck Commerce engineering department to support client onboarding.

Required Skills & Experience:

5+ years demonstrated experience in the definition and execution of software projects.

Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Computer Science or similar experience.

Ability to write technical workflows, documentation, and test cases for an API based product.

Understanding of IT systems architecture, including the relational intersection between systems and data exchange (e.g., databases, webservers, SFTP, restful SaaS services, ETL, etc.).

Able to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders at the appropriate level of depth.

Able to maintain technical credibility and trust through client tailored consultancy, which maximizes the product’s value for the customer.

You have experience in Business Process Analysis and experience in all phases of a SDLC (Software Development Lifecycle) methodology.

Able to demonstrate strong technical acumen and ability to analyze complex technical concepts.

Advanced problem solving and troubleshooting experience.

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Detail-oriented, excellent time management abilities, and effective under pressure

Preferred Requirements

Experience with eCommerce systems and processes, including familiarity with ecommerce storefronts (e.g., Shopify, BigCommerce, Magento, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, etc.)

Prior consulting, solutions engineering, solutions architecture, or sales engineering experience

Experience with data manipulation and scripting (e.g. SQL, JSON, XML, HTML)

Experience with project management tools such as Jira, MS Project, Trello, Smartsheet, etc.

Introductory understanding of programming concepts
Primary Responsibilities

Steering clients towards optimal solutions leveraging our best-in-class order management industry experience.

Leading client technical and business stakeholders to identify and document technical requirements via discovery sessions.

Working closely with clients to help them identify how Deck Commerce can help them achieve their business objectives.

Actively engaging clients and their development teams to gather requirements in order to ensure comprehensive and accurate transfer of information to supporting Deck Commerce teams.

Proactively communicate and collaborate with new and existing clients to analyze order management processes and functional requirements.

Establish and document the technical vision for all projects and implementations.

Operating as the key liaison between Deck Commerce Sales, Development, QA, Support, Project Management, and Customer Success teams.
